In Pursuit of Happiness

It’s human nature to want to be happy.

But what is it that truly gives you happiness? Is it eating at a great restaurant? Seeing an Academy Award winning movie? Treating yourself to a massage? All of these may give you a transient sense of contentment, but they don’t provide one with a feeling of true, lasting happiness.

On the other hand, if that meal is shared with a friend you connect with, or if having that massage fills you with a feeling of gratitude, then the experience takes on a different value. And it is these types of values, the values of the heart, that provide lasting happiness, according to research being done at the VIA Institute in Cincinnati.

About Judith Lissing

Judith Lissing is a Clinical Hypnotherapist and Wellness Coach, with 15 years experience in teaching stress management and meditation. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree with Honours in Immunology and a Masters degree in Public Health, both from the University of NSW. She is also an Associate Lecturer in the Faculty of Medicine at the University of NSW since 1999. Judith is trained in Wellness Coaching with Wellcoaches U.S. and holds a Diploma in Hypnotherapy. Prior to coaching professionally, Judith held a statewide management role with NSW Health working with all levels of staff across the health sector.
